Amazon today released a new version of its Prime Video app for Quest that lets you do something the 2019-era version never could: download and watch videos offline. This should put Travel Mode to good use.
The original Prime Video VR app for Quest hasn't gotten much attention since it launched in 2019, but with the launch of the Quest 3S and bids for mobile app developers to fill the Horizon Store with 2D and spatial apps, Amazon is rolling out a new version of its video streaming app that supports the Quest 2/3/Pro and, of course, the Quest 3S.
The new version, called Amazon Prime Video, is now live and lets you watch the usual movies, TV and sports shows by signing into your Prime account, but now you can also download and watch content offline.
Also includes: multi-user profiles and access X-Ray is a pop-up window that provides extra information, such as actors featured on screen, powered by IMDb.
This comes as Meta accelerates its spatial application framework and promises faster development of traditional 2D applications.
