Canada’s Couche-Tard raises takeover offer for 7-Eleven owner by 20%

TOKYO — Canadian convenience store operator Alimentation Couche-Tard has made a new takeover bid for Japanese retailer Seven & i Holdings that raises the valuation by more than 20% over its previous bid.

The proposed all-share purchase would be worth $47 billion, up from the previous offer of $38.5 billion. If the deal goes through, it would be the largest acquisition of a Japanese company by a foreign company.
