China drafts law on energy security, renewables amid U.S. tensions

BEIJING — China is preparing a new energy security law to become more self-reliant, diversify resource imports and boost renewable energy supplies, as the country braces for continued friction with the United States.

The draft law was discussed at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, which is the country's legislative body, which began on Tuesday.
