China raises retirement age as workforce shrinks

SHANGHAI — China's National People's Congress Standing Committee will raise the legal retirement age as the country tries to address its shrinking labor force.

Over the next 15 years, the retirement age will be gradually increased. For men, this age will increase from 60 to 63. Female managers will work until the age of 58, not 55. The working years of non-management female employees will be increased from 50 to 55.
