Chinese self-driving startup WeRide’s shares rise in Nasdaq debut

NEW YORK — Shares of Chinese self-driving startup WeRide ended its first day of trading up 6.7% on the Nasdaq composite on Friday after an initial public offering along with a private placement raised $440.5 million for the company.

Shares jumped more than 20% shortly after trading, indicating strong investor appetite for Chinese companies. It closed at $16.55.
