DUBAI — Dubai is launching massive infrastructure projects to further attract businesses and tourists. The city has approved the construction of a new terminal at an airport in the south and will also strengthen city functions by building a new railway and increasing the capacity of the stormwater drainage system.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, gave the green light to the construction of a 128 billion dirham ($34.85 billion) terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport at the end of April. Once the terminal is completed, Al Maktoum will become the world's largest airport with 400 boarding gates and five parallel runways, capable of handling 260 million passengers a year.
