EV teardown showcase reveals secrets to China’s low costs

NAGOYA, Japan — Chinese EV makers are lowering production costs by combining multiple components into one part and maximizing in-house production, as well as standardizing parts across multiple vehicle models.

That was the outlet for representatives of Japanese auto parts makers from central Japan's Chubu region, who took part in an electric car teardown on Monday that offered a look under the hood of more than a dozen cars.
