KUALA LUMPUR — Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin was charged with sedition by prosecutors on Tuesday over comments he made during a recent by-election campaign that allegedly criticized the country's former King Pahang Sultan Abdullah.
Muhyiddin, 77, served as Malaysia's eighth prime minister from March 2020 to August 2021. He is the president of the Bersatu party and the chairman of the Perikatan Nasional opposition coalition.
