Casual card game Exploding Kittens is coming to VR for the first time next month, and it promises to bring all the joy of the original with a little VR madness thrown in.
It will be released on Quest 2/3/Pro on October 3rd, Exploding Kittens VR It lets you play with up to four players online (or against bots) and strategically force your opponents to pull off the dreaded Exploding Cat and win by being the last man standing.
Originally created by Matthew Inman Oatmeal web comic, Elan Lee and Shane Small, the game first made its gang-busters debut on Kickstarter in 2015, raising $8.78 million to bring it to life. Since then, the game has been adapted for the flat screen and even got its own animated show on Netflix.
While you'll be able to do some standard social VR things like customizing your avatar, chatting in a 15-person social hub, and playing mini-games, Exploding Kittens VR It also offers some nice VR-native ways to interact with the cards, and a bunch of unique 3D animations for added flair.
The game is planned to come with three modes at launch, including Classic and Blitz modes that support up to five players, or Duel mode where you can go head-to-head with another player.
Exploding Kittens VR It's set to be released on October 3rd and is available for pre-order now from the Horizon Store, with a 10% discount for $18/£13.50/€18.
