Hitachi and Nvidia develop AI-powered railway monitoring system

TOKYO/FRANKFURT, Germany — Hitachi has partnered with Nvidia to develop an artificial intelligence-based system that checks the safety of rail infrastructure, a Japanese industry group said Tuesday, to make maintenance work more efficient with real-time monitoring.

The new system, called Hyper Mobility Asset Expert (HMAX), was unveiled on Tuesday at InnoTrans, the world's largest railway technology exhibition, which opened in Berlin on Tuesday.
