HONG KONG — A Hong Kong court on Thursday sentenced a man to 14 months in prison for wearing a “tight” T-shirt marking the first implementation of the city's new national security ordinance.
Chu Kai-pong, 27, had admitted wearing the shirt and pleaded guilty at an earlier appearance at the city's West Kowloon Magistrates' Court on Monday. Judge Victor So Wai-tak, one of the national security judges appointed by Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee, ruled on Thursday that Chun's action was “not really light” because the words on his clothes amounted to defending “Hong Kong”. it should be separated from the legal management of central bodies”.
