HTC Announces Vive Focus Vision Specs, Price, and Release Date

HTC today announced its next standalone XR headset, the Vive Focus Vision. The company looks to be appealing again to enterprise and prosumers by offering a mix of features from the Vive Focus 3 and Vive Elite XR — all for $1,000.

HTC has opened up pre-orders for its new MRI headset, the Vive Focus Vision, starting today. Pre-orders will be available from today until October 17, after which the headset is expected to be released.

You may recognize A lot The specs below are carried over from the Vive Focus 3, which was released primarily for enterprise in 2021. It has the same controllers, the same Fresnel optics, and dual 2,448 x 2,448-resolution LCDs, and it also works with Vive Focus 3 accessories like the optional Vive Focus 3 face-tracking module ($100).

But unlike the Focus 3, the Vive Focus Vision has color shifting for mixed reality thanks to its dual color cameras and depth sensor, putting it much closer in functionality to the company's Quest Pro rival, the Vive XR Elite, which is launching in 2023 for $1,100 (now $900).

It also comes with four front-view cameras and an infrared projector for illuminated hand tracking.

Packing the Vive XR Elite’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 chipset, Vive Focus Vision comes with built-in eye tracking; an optional module was later added to the XR Elite that also tracks the user’s mouth. Hence ‘Vision’ (nothing to do with Vision Pro). Automatic IPD adjustment for users between 57–72mm should appeal to VR arcades and other enterprise use cases where multiple people use the same headset.

The company calls it a “hybrid device” because of its ability to play PC VR games via Steam and Viveport. Pre-orders come with the newly introduced Vive Wired Streaming Kit for free ($150 MRSP), which includes a 5-meter streaming cable and converter, both of which have DisplayPort compatibility, which HTC says delivers lossless visuals from the PC to the headset itself.

The game is expected to be available for pre-order, with 7 games expected to appeal to gamers: Metro Awakening VR (Coming to Viveport in late 2024)Arizona Sunshine 2, Bootrap Island, Breachers, Pirate Queen, Taskmaster VR, Kayak VR: Mirage, Wanderer, and MR compatible games Surprising Places, Magic Keys, Toy Trains, Yuki, And Figmin XR.
