Human Fall Flat (2016) is getting VR support soon, bringing this weird, wobbly physics-based platformer to all the major titles. And you can thank VR modder 'Raicuparta' for that.
Raicuparta explains Man Falls Flat studio No Brakes Games purchased experimental VR support from the modder after seeing working video of some early control concepts. While the mod was never released, it was enough to get the studio interested in bringing Raicuparta on board.
“I showed the video to the game’s creators and they were very excited,” Raicuparta says in his Patreon post. “They offered to hire me, but it wasn’t a good fit for me at the time.”
While Raicuparta wasn't directly involved in the development of the official VR port as of today, the studio did implement the third-person control scheme featured in the recently released trailer seen below.
“They then offered to buy the mod from me so they could eventually use the same 'puppet controls' concept in an official VR port,” Raicuparta says. “I don't think they should really pay me, so that was a really kind gesture.”
Raicuparta is known for adding unofficial VR support to many games over the years, such as: The Stanley Analogy, Outer Wilderness, And Neon White. Raicuparta has also released a game and mod management tool called 'Rai Pal', along with a Universal Unity VR mod currently in development. This tool makes it possible to provide VR support to flat-screen games running on the Unity game engine, similar to Praydog's Unreal Engine VR (UEVR) tool.
Raicuparta, who works with Flat2VR Studios, an Impact Reality studio dedicated to porting flat-screen games to VR, also played a key role in porting the upcoming game. Trombone Champion: Unflattened all major VR headsets planned to be released alongside official VR ports WRATH: Aeon of Ruin VR, Roboquest VR, And Flat VR.
Coming soon to Quest 2/3/Pro, PSVR 2 and SteamVR headsets. Man Falls Flat It comes with all the levels from the original version of the game, plus extra content created by members of the community. There's no release date yet, but you can wishlist it now on Steam and the Horizon Store, with the PlayStation Store listing still pending.
