JAKARTA — As Southeast Asia's largest economy enters a new political era, Sri Mulyani Indrawati will face her toughest challenges as Indonesia's finance minister as she is called upon to raise tax revenue and finance President Prabowo Subianto's expensive programs.
The respected technocrat, who has no political affiliation and is the first Indonesian to hold the post under three presidents, said on October 14 that he had been asked to stay on. His reappointment was confirmed when Prabowo announced his cabinet on Sunday evening.
