JAKARTA — Indonesia will complete the handover of power on Sunday to retired army general Prabowo Subianto, who secured the presidency in his third attempt.
Along with Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Prabowo unveiled a vision he called Asta Cita, which means “eight goals” in Sanskrit. The plan consists of 17 priority programs that they want to complete within five years. While Prabowo has come up with some initiatives, such as a free food program, others – the processing of local minerals and the development of a new capital city – are the legacy of outgoing President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
