Indrawati says she has been asked to stay as Indonesian finance minister

JAKARTA — Sri Mulyani Indrawati said she asked to stay on as Indonesia's finance minister after a meeting with Prabowo Subianto on Monday night, which could ease investor concerns about the new government's fiscal discipline amid the president-elect's ambitious policy agenda.

However, the respected technocrat did not say whether he accepted the offer or not. He was expected to leave the cabinet due to previous disagreements with Prabowo over defense procurement to modernize Indonesia's aging military equipment.
