Jake Sullivan meets Wang Yi on China visit to ‘manage’ tense ties

TOKYO — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met in Beijing on Tuesday, China's state television CCTV said, as the rival powers maintained a “strategic communication channel” to stabilize ties amid heightened tensions.

Sullivan's three-day visit follows recent sanctions imposed by Washington on Chinese companies for allegedly aiding Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine. Beijing assessed the sanctions as a “wrong practice”.
