JAL to boost pay for post-retirement workers amid staffing crunch

TOKYO — Japan Airlines will begin offering senior employees similar pay to what they earn before retirement under a new pay scheme from October as the aviation industry faces a growing staffing crisis, the Nikkei has learned.

The official retirement age in JAL is 60. The airline currently offers annual contracts for those willing to continue working for 40% to 60% less pay.
