Japan display makers pay dearly for failing to see iPhone’s LCD exit

TOKYO/OSAKA — Japanese display makers, once the biggest suppliers of iPhone screens, will no longer be part of Apple's supply chain because they can't wait for the company to fully switch to organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays.

Nikkei reported last Tuesday that Apple has informed suppliers that the next iPhone SE, which will be released in 2025, will use OLED displays. With the adoption of OLED in the SE, no new iPhone models will be equipped with an LCD screen.
