Japan eyes new tech to trap CO2 from power plants in basalt

TOKYO — A joint project between Japanese and U.S. players aims to develop technologies to capture and store carbon dioxide emissions from geothermal power plants within a common rock type, the Nikkei has learned.

JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration and the Japan Carbon Frontier Organization will sign a memorandum of understanding with the University of Wyoming this month to collaborate on field testing.
