Japan plans cybersecurity team for critical infrastructure

TOKYO — Japan's government will create a unit designated to protect ports, railways and airports from cyberattacks in fiscal 2025, the Nikkei has learned, in an effort to strengthen defenses for critical infrastructure and boost economic security.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will include the team's plans in its organizational and staffing inquiry for the 2025 financial year, which will begin in April.
