Japan set to provide aid for South Pacific telecom infrastructure

TOKYO — Japan's government and private sector will offer communications infrastructure support to Pacific island nations, starting with a data center and telecom project in Palau, to improve the security of critical networks connecting Asia and North America, Nikkei has learned.

The effort will be led by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and is expected to include telecommunications company NTT Group, internet provider Internet Initiative Japan and other companies.
