Japanese investment in China tumbles 16% as automaker woes spread

TOKYO — Japanese companies are moving away from China, with capital investment by domestic subsidiaries falling for a seventh straight quarter in April-June and falling short of investment in Europe.

The downturn, which began amid fierce competition from Japanese automakers, has now spread to components in China and other parts of the supply chain.
