TOKYO — Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell more than 1,500 points, or 4%, at one point on Wednesday as U.S. tech stocks fell and the yen strengthened.
At the end of the morning session, the average index decreased by 1280.72 points or 3.3% to 37,405.59. “When weak indicators emerge – in this case, the ISM – worries about the economy rise and US interest rates decline, leading to a stronger yen and lower Japanese stock prices,” said senior technical analyst Yutaka Miura.
