Japan’s Daiso aims for 200 stores in India and more local sourcing

TOKYO — Japan's Daiso Industries, operator of the 100-yen convenience store chain, aims to open 200 outlets in India by February 2027, the Nikkei has learned.

Daiso currently has less than a dozen and is set to launch its first product in 2022. Most products are sold at 99 rupees ($1.2), giving customers the impression of an affordable price. In Japan, 100 yen is about 0.7 dollars.
