TOKYO — Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has warned NHK over unscripted comments on sensitive topics about China, as the public broadcaster has been criticized for a lack of risk-taking and delayed response to live radio broadcasts.
During an international radio broadcast in Chinese on August 19, a Chinese expatriate working for NHK made unscripted statements for about 20 seconds, saying that it was the Senkaku Islands, which are controlled by Japan and claimed by China as the Diaoyu. China and Nanking Massacre should not be forgotten.
