SEOUL — Prime Minister Fumio Kishi is set to arrive in South Korea on a farewell visit Friday to finalize official ties with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, his partner in achieving a significant rapprochement between the historically adversary countries.
Kishida is scheduled to hold an afternoon summit with Yoon before returning to Tokyo on Saturday, the Japanese government said. This is the prime minister's second visit to South Korea to meet Yun during his tenure. Last May, Kishida became the first Japanese prime minister to attend a bilateral summit in South Korea in 12 years.
