TOKYO — Taiheiyo Cement plans to export up to 1 million tons of cement a year from Indonesia to the United States by expanding capacity there, as well as increasing production in the Philippines to meet infrastructure demand in Southeast Asia.
The moves come as the Japanese cement maker looks to other markets after exiting China last year. It has added export warehouses at its Indonesian plant and plans to build a jetty there to load cement onto ships. The site is expected to be an export base not only for the US but also for Oceania.
