Japan’s Unicharm to sell sanitary pads in central Africa

TOKYO — Japanese personal care products maker Unicharm will sell its Sofy menstrual pads in three central African countries, as well as educate consumers about them in a region where disposable sanitary products are not widely used.

The company is targeting ¥2 billion (US$13 million) in total sales by 2026, and will be manufacturing in Ghana, Ivory Coast and Kenya by November. They will be available mainly through supermarkets, although Unicharm is also considering supplying local women for free. from shop windows to sell pillows.
