Kazakhstan must shake off testing-site past and vote ‘yes’ to nuclear energy

Kazakh President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev has been discussing the construction of a nuclear power plant for a long time, with Tokayev emphasizing the economic and political importance of such a step. However, public opinion remains divided due to the country's legacy as a Soviet-era nuclear test site. To resolve the issue, Tokayev is holding a national vote on October 6.
