Ko Wen-je arrest plunges Taiwan’s No. 3 party into crisis of trust

TAIPEI — Taiwan's third-largest political party is struggling for survival as its leader and senior figures are mired in corruption and campaign finance scandals.

Taiwan People's Party (TPP) leader Ko Wen-je was arrested on Saturday at the request of a prosecutor after being questioned about one of the many scandals — alleged wrongdoing in a real estate project during his tenure as mayor of Taipei.
