Meta announced today at Connect that it's working with Microsoft to bring better wireless pairing of the Quest platform to Windows 11 PCs, making using a Quest-powered PC a more seamless experience.
“You'll soon be able to easily connect to any Windows 11 PC. Just look at the keyboard and it will start pairing,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on stage.
We don't know when it'll arrive just yet, beyond “soon,” but Zuckerberg says it will support multiple virtual displays, making Quest a “natural extension of your PC.”
In the demo, a user is seen dragging windows across multiple virtual monitors, which is a different experience from the Remote Desktop experience offered by Air Link.
“This is the way to build a general computing platform,” Zuckerberg said. “Not just games, although [Quest] “It’s really good at that. You’ll also use it for apps, watching videos, and all the different things you would do with a general-purpose computer. Quest is the complete package.”
We're at Meta Connect 2024, so we'll be adding more details as they come in. Check back soon for more.
