Midea shares rise 8% in Hong Kong after $4bn offering

HONG KONG — Shares of Chinese home appliance maker Midea Group rose on Tuesday after it made its debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, raising nearly $4 billion in the ailing bourse's biggest new share offering this year.

The opening price was HK$59.20, 8% higher than the offer price of HK$54.80 set at the top of the range. Shares traded at HK$59 in the morning session.
