Mongolia’s defiance of Putin arrest warrant shows reliance on Russia

BEIJING — Despite an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant, Russian President Vladimir Putin's warm reception in Mongolia this week underscores the landlocked country's dependence on Russia for energy supplies.

Putin, who last visited Mongolia in 2019, landed in Ulaanbaatar on Monday and met with President Ukhnaaqin Khurelsukh on Tuesday. According to the Mongolian government, he left the country on Tuesday.
