BANGKOK/YANGON — Myanmar's embattled military government says it will send a senior foreign ministry official to next week's ASEAN summit in Laos after a de facto ban on high-level representation as it pursues regional support.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aung Kyaw Moe will be sent to the meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to be held in Vientiane on October 9. He participated in the meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers in July.
