TOKYO — Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen will work with a municipal industrial waste processor to create a safe ship dismantling facility in Japan to promote the recycling of high-purity iron used in shipbuilding.
NYK Line, as the company is better known, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Oono Associates for joint research. Dismantling will take place at Oono's dry dock in Aichi Prefecture, near Nagoya, central Japan. The site will also have facilities to incinerate industrial waste to generate electricity.
