Pakistan, China eye security tie-ups after deadly militant attacks

ISLAMABAD — Beijing and Islamabad are close to a deal to form joint security companies to protect Chinese nationals working in Pakistan after a series of deadly militant attacks threatened their multibillion-dollar investment ties.

Multiple sources told Nikkei Asia that the deal being negotiated would see Chinese security personnel working inside Pakistan, which Islamabad has previously resisted despite growing pressure from Beijing. The deal could also see Chinese citizens transported in armored vehicles.
