Philippines and Vietnam sign defense agreement

MANILA — The Philippines and Vietnam signed a defense cooperation agreement in Manila on Friday, marking a significant strengthening of ties between the two Southeast Asian nations facing Chinese aggression in the South China Sea.

Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro and his Vietnamese counterpart Phan Van Giang signed letters of intent to facilitate closer ties following Phan's courtesy meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
