Prabowo extends grip on Indonesian parliament as parties join his coalition

JAKARTA — Indonesia's newly elected President Prabowo Subianto has tightened his grip on parliament after all but one of the parties with seats in the legislature joined his coalition.

But the newly expanded group immediately sparked controversy and calls for protests after it proposed amending the law to challenge a Constitutional Court ruling that eased rules on who can run for regional leaders in November's elections.
