Seiko Epson to buy U.S. printing software company for $590m

TOKYO — Seiko Epson will buy U.S. printing software maker Fiery in a deal valued at about $591 million, the Japanese company said Thursday, as it seeks technologies that improve print quality and efficiency.

The deal, estimated to be worth a total of 84.5 billion yen including fees and other expenses, is Seiko Epson's largest acquisition since it went public in 2003. The plan is to spin Fiery off as a wholly-owned subsidiary by the end of 2024. is currently reviewing the transaction's impact on earnings.
