Sports brands in China turn in uneven performance despite Olympic year

HONG KONG — China's Olympic team won 40 gold medals at the Summer Games in Paris, but the country's sporting goods companies are getting mixed results as concerns about sluggish consumption persist.

The bright spot in the first half was Anta Sports Products, one of the largest domestic Chinese brands. The company said on Tuesday that its interim revenue rose 13.8% year-on-year to 33.73 billion yuan ($7.13 billion), while net profit rose 62.6% to 7.72 billion yuan.
