TAIPEI — Taiwan's former president Tsai Ing-wen will make her first trip since leaving office this week to Europe, amid an intensifying struggle to shape the international narrative about the island's democracy.
Tsai will leave Taiwan on Saturday and speak at the Forum 2000 conference scheduled for October 13-15 in Prague, her office said in a statement. The visit is the latest sign of strengthening ties between Taiwan and the Czech Republic, and the statement drew parallels between each side's fight against authoritarianism.
