Tokyo’s Shibuya cracks down on public drinking as tourist crowds swell

TOKYO — Tokyo's Shibuya district will ban public drinking alcohol in public at night for a year starting Oct. 1, in hopes of curbing disruptive behavior mostly attributed to tourists and restoring the area's quality of life.

At the beginning of August, a group of people who appeared to be tourists from abroad were sitting on the bar drinking in front of the market at 23:00. Garbage is scattered all over the area.
