Toyota halts plant operations as Typhoon Shanshan approaches

TOKYO — Toyota Motor on Wednesday temporarily suspended operations at all 14 plants in Japan, including 28 production lines at group companies, as a powerful typhoon is expected to hit large swathes of the country in the coming days.

On Wednesday morning, Typhoon Shanshan was slowly moving towards the southern island of Kyushu. It is expected to move across the country by Monday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
