Ukraine’s cross-border attack could spur Russian withdrawal

More than a month after Ukraine launched its cross-border offensive into Russian territory, the failure of Moscow's invasion campaign is becoming increasingly apparent. We hope that the United States, Europe, Japan and other democratic countries will increase their support to Kyiv so that Kyiv can regain all its territory.

On August 6, Ukrainian special forces launched a surprise attack in Kursk region in western Russia. The government of Russian President Vladimir Putin underestimated the possibility that another country would launch ground operations on the territory of a nuclear state, and Ukraine took advantage of this. Kiev says that it currently controls more than 1,290 square kilometers of territory.
