If you're in the market for a PC VR headset, there's an offering that should be on your radar. For the next two days, Amazon Prime members can get the Vive Pro 2 at its highest discount ever.
Vive Pro 2 'full kit' available now It sells for $800 on Amazon (33% off regular $1,200 price).
Or if you already have controllers and base stations, Vive Pro 2 headset alone for $500 (28% off the regular price of $700).
Both deals are currently available only to Prime members during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, which runs from October 8th to 9th.
Even though the Vive Pro 2's 2,448 x 2,448 (6.0MP) resolution per eye was released more than three years ago, it's still higher than most contemporary headsets, like the Quest 3 at 2,064 x 2,208 (4.5MP) or the PSVR 2 at 2,000 x 2,040 . 4.1MP).
Vive Pro 2, a dedicated PC VR headset, uses SteamVR Tracking base stations for rock-solid tracking. It supports the entire SteamVR content catalog and uses a connected cable for sharp visuals without any noticeable compression or concerns about wireless stability or battery life.
When we reviewed the Vive Pro 2 at launch, there was a lot to like, but it was hard to justify its $1,400 launch price. Such a deal makes it a lot more interesting, especially considering that its closest direct competitor, HP's Reverb G2, is no longer supported in the latest versions of Windows.
Of course, unless you're quite ready for a tethered PC VR headset, the Quest 3 still makes a very good PC VR headset at an attractive price, but only if you've got an optimal wireless setup with a wired PC and a modern Wi-Fi. Fi 5 (or higher) router.
