West urged to give lithium more support to break China’s supply grip

SYDNEY — Western governments need to give more support to the lithium industry if they want to break China's grip on the supply chain, according to mining veteran Ken Brinsden.

His warning comes amid falling prices that have caused a number of players to scale back or postpone production plans, including the world's third-largest lithium company's recent decision to pursue a project in Western Australia.
