Last month, the organizers of the VR Games Showcase announced that they would be holding a new live gaming event next week focused on indie developers and studios “both big and small.” Definitely There will be excitement over XR news.
The livestream, called the XR Indies & Friends Showcase, is scheduled to begin at 08:00 CET / 11:00 CET (local time) on September 25. This will be just a few hours before CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s 2025 Meta Connect keynote at 10:00 CET / 13:00 CET.
In the announcement video linked below, organizers say the XR Indies & Friends Showcase will feature new announcements and trailers, and will “highlight fresh and delicious indie games.”
While the full list of games will be revealed during the show, it has been confirmed that the livestream will feature more information about upcoming games, including Innerspace VR's The One True Way, New game from Cybron's MR adventure Wonders of Wall Town, New trailer for VR adaptation of Kafkaesque work from Ovid’s Works Metamorphosis, and new gameplay from Just Add Water's arcade digging sim DIG VR.
“As you saw last month, our focus at the VR Games Showcase is to deliver a blockbuster event for massive VR games,” said Zeena Al-Obaidi, Chief Creative Officer of The VR Showcase and host of XR Indies & Friends. “But it’s equally important for us to provide a suitable venue to showcase an incredible variety of innovative and exciting indie games. XR Indies & Friends will shine a light on the vibrant and creative range of projects coming to a title near you soon.”
You can catch the XR Indies & Friends Showcase on September 25th at 8AM PT / 11AM ET / 5PM CET on the VR Showcase YouTube channel. We'll be following along, of course, and promise there's an avalanche of news on the day, so be sure to check back then.
As a reminder, Meta Connect will undoubtedly focus on upcoming hardware, and will likely feature the official reveal of the (and now basically confirmed) Meta-agnostic Quest 3S. And much more, we suspect, so stay tuned for what's sure to be a busy day of XR announcements.
