Nearly two years ago, Meta announced that the Quest's social space, Horizon Home, would allow users to watch YouTube videos together. It's something we've long wished could be easily done in VR. However, the excitement waned when the feature never really made it out of the gate. Now, the company says social viewing for YouTube is finally here.

Downloading additional apps, which often have their own accounts, avatars, and friend lists, is a lot of hurdles to jump through. Well, better late than never. Meta announced today… again… that YouTubeVR is getting a social viewing feature. The company says users will be able to start a co-viewing session YouTubeVR The app that lets others join your Horizon Home and watch the same content.
We don't know for sure how many users will be able to join the same session at this time, but we think the social viewing feature should support not just plain YouTube videos, but also immersive 180 and 360 VR content.
Meta says the feature will start rolling out next week.
